What's the point of Guido Fawkes?
Guido Fawkes, the renowned political blogger and tweeter, scourge of MPs and re-publisher of reported shady Westminster dealings - distributor of a daily diet of juicy bon mots in 140-character format - you get the picture and you probably follow him anyway.
But is this blogatribe of amusing tittle tattle simply that: entertaining trivia? Or is there a real value to this stream of political consciousness? Is Guido a sleuth or bloodhound, maybe like Private Eye, seeking out fresh scandals and public outrages? Or is he out there, quizzing and ferretting the political classes to catch the unguarded comment, the unwise house furnishing purchase, the bijou residence financed by the voters?
Reputedly an 'anarchist' with no known party allegiance, Guido gets my rating as a good egg, tirelessly posting snappy little numbers for our delight, information and motivation. Good on yer, Guido, dont blow up the Mother of all Parliaments just yet, its far too good a source of incredible and entertaining tales to be demolished whilst it continues to astonish us with the antics and excesses of its occupants.
