Hillary should try not to win the TV debates by too much

My initial impression from the first Presidential debate was that Hillary came out on top, not because she was so good but because Trump was so bad. Hillary came across as very scripted and it would have been great to see exactly what was on her lectern. Trump on the other hand seemed very unprepared, seemingly thinking he could rely solely on his entertaining retort power.

The second strong impression is that the Hillary camp should think about the long game. Dominate Trump, embarrass him in the remaining debates and it will only reinvigorate the Trump followers and supporters, and especially those who haven't pledged any allegiance but are quite clearly Trump voters. Pretty much like how the Remain camp in the Brexit campaign totally underestimated those who had never voted before coming out to show their disapproval of the 'establishment' and this voting group ending up holding the key to the win.

Like those pollsters who polled during the Brexit referendum I think their US counterparts have totally ignored the huge potential voters that will vote Trump who may have never voted in a long time or not voted regularly.

Trying not to win by too much is a hard tactic to pull off and as it happens I think the Clinton camp will be out for blood. That could well be something that comes back to bite them on the arse.
